Top gospel acts for Bellevue, St Elizabeth
It will be a day of "fun praise and worship" on Boxing Day, December 26, at Mall Hole, Bellevue, St Elizabeth.
Presented by the DLW Give Back Charity Foundation, the annual event is being held in memory of Bishop Doris Louise Whitely in honouring her years of service to the community.
Gospel acts slated for this year's event are Evangelist Sandra Brooks, Sis Pat, Rondell Positive, iWorship Group, Pastor Glen Graham, DJ Rick and Gospel Soul Seekers Band.
Gurvan Whitely, son of the late Bishop, said his mother has always been involved in community outreach, and it is in that spirit he and the rest of his relatives are forging ahead with the event.
"During her lifetime, she touched so many lives. She was a people person and through this and other events for the charity foundation, we will be keeping this heritage alive," he said.
Last year, the foundation honoured over 15 stalwarts in the Bellevue community who made invaluable contributions in one way or the other over the years.
For them, it's the first time anyone ever publicly says 'thank you' for their dedicated and selfless service given. This year, Whitely said 15 others will be honoured during the gospel show.
The event is slated to begin at noon with talents from various churches in the area vying for top prizes before the main acts hit the stage. Providing MC duties will be Petrine Bryan.
