Rastarfarian reggae act Jah Max is promoting his latest single, 'Yes I Am'.

"I really hope that it will reach on the Billboard charts and to as many ears as possible across the world. This is a motivational track which was written to uplift the spirits of the human race ... . It's just a world song for everyone," he said.

The singjay told THE STAR that he hopes the single will continue to pick up momentum.

"It can be a struggle out there because there are a lot of talented acts in the field, but I am determined to continue pushing," he said.

Jah Max, whose given name is Paul Wedderburn, grew up in the tough inner-city community of Arnett Gardens in Kingston. He said he got involved in music at an early age as he was encouraged by family and friends.

After completing studies at Bridgeport High School in Portmore, St Catherine, he released his debut single, Haven't I Told You Girl in 2005.

In 2012, at 24, he migrated to the United States with music on his mind. He went on to release songs like Smooth Sailing and One Spliff A Day.

Jah Max is working on his upcoming EP called The Revolutionist Is Here.
