It will be as you were heading into the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) second leg quarter-finals on Thursday as Cavalier and Mount Pleasant played out a 0-0 draw and Arnett and Harbour View battled to a 1-1 score in the first legs at Sabina Park last night.

The underdogs were the better team in both games but could not drive home their superiority.

Cavalier assistant coach David Laylor says they had their match in their hands.

"We muffed some easy chances, granted they got one or two," he said. "In patches, we had the run of them, but we were not playing the ball around comfortably enough. But the next leg, we hope to move the ball more comfortably and put Mount Pleasant on the back foot and see what happens."

In a dour affair, Cavalier was the more purposeful team but could not turn their dominance into real opportunities. Mount Pleasant's Ricardo Morrison scuffed the best chances when he failed to beat Vino Barclett, who was at his mercy in the 40th minute.

Colin Anderson had two good chances for Cavalier after the break and Trevante Stewart threatened a couple times for Mount Pleasant.

Mount Pleasant General Manager David Galloway said the team was satisfied with the performance and the result.

"We came here for three points but settled for one," he said. "The team played well. It was not what we wanted, but they came out with a point and that was at least the aim. We got chances and didn't put them through, but Thursday we know that we are going to deliver."

Trayvone Reid consolidated Harbour View's first-half performance with a 45th-minute penalty in the double-header's opener, but Arnett rallied to salvage a draw through Marlon Allen's 79th-minute strike.
