For fans of reggae and dancehall, there is no more fitting way to kick off a long hot summer than with their favourite music provided by some of their favourite artistes.

So when Buju Banton and Stephen Marley announced their ‘Roots and Rhymes’ summer 2026 tour, fans got excited about the musical possibilities that awaited. From June 26 to July 18, the two icons will tour 10 US cities, giving fans another reason to celebrate beyond the World Cup, with stops in Dallas, Detroit, Cincinnati, Boston, Bridgeport, Bethel and Elmont, New York.

Gramps Morgan joins the tour as a special guest, while Skillibeng and Lila Iké will also appear as guest performers, adding a younger generation and diverse sounds to the line-up.

Buju, who has been instrumental in putting another ‘R’ in the tour, said that between shows there is also time for ‘relaxation’ and fun, because the group dynamics naturally work well. In welcoming the others to the fold, the ‘Til Shiloh artiste told THE WEEKEND STAR that it is rewarding to work with people he not only respects but also genuinely gets along with. He said the authentic synergy and rapport, both on and off stage, make the experience enjoyable and allow the time to pass seamlessly.

“All I can say is that every night is a moment of total togetherness and love, sharing the stage with Stephen and Gramps. It is euphoric because we each bring something special to the audience, so reggae and dancehall is totally represented.”

In speaking to THE WEEKEND STAR about joining the tour and working with the other artistes, Gramps said that it has been in the works for some time.

“Me joining this tour and bringing my new sound to the stage is something I’m excited for, as all these people will get a chance to hear my country-reggae sound, which I believe will grow and expand so much, maybe to the point that people will be copying it very soon,” he said.

“Great things are mimicked, and I do believe that I have tapped into something special, so I look forward to it. It is also very flattering to be added by Buju and Stephen Marley, who would see me as worthy of joining their tour.”

This Friday, Morgan Heritage will drop their new single Come Feel the Love, which Gramps added, is also produced by Stephen Marley.

“I tell people that I just want to sing and heal people’s hearts and let people feel the energy and authenticity of Jamaican music, from rocksteady all the way up. I’m excited, so big up Stephen and big up my bredda Buju for believing in me, so we are out here building the legacy and living the dream.”
