Murder accused caught after deportation to Kingston

September 19, 2025

A fugitive murder accused who thought he had escaped justice was instead escorted back home in handcuffs on Thursday, when he arrived at Norman Manley International Airport aboard a U.S. deportation flight.

Twenty-four-year-old Rogea Reid of Old Harbour Road, St Catherine, was among 61 deportees sent from Alexandria, Louisiana. But unlike the others, Reid was the only passenger immediately taken into police custody after stepping off the plane around 11:55 a.m.

Reid had fled Jamaica while on bail for murder and has now been hit with additional charges of absconding bail and breaching his bail conditions.

Police say he was handed over to local law enforcement upon arrival and remains in custody as investigations continue.
