Teen charged with housebreaking

A 14-year-old boy from Duncansville district in Trelawny has been charged with housebreaking and larceny following an alleged break-in at a shop in the community last December.

Reports from the Falmouth police are that a woman securely locked her shop and retired to bed. The following morning, a relative alerted her that the boy had reportedly been seen exiting the shop through a front window. The woman went to investigate and discovered that $180,000 in cash, $12,000 in coins that had been stored in a jar, a black Samsung Galaxy S5 cellular phone valued at $20,000, and grocery items valued at $7,200 were missing.

The matter was reported to the police, and the investigators collected statements which implicated the teen. On Monday, the Clark’s Town police reportedly spotted the teen while on patrol. He was arrested and taken into custody, where he was interviewed in the presence of his mother. He was subsequently charged.

His court date is being finalised.
