JUTC bus goes up in flames near AC Marriott

Motorists and pedestrians along Lady Musgrave Road were left stunned Friday morning when a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus burst into flames near the busy intersection by the AC Marriott hotel.

The blaze reportedly erupted early this morning in the vicinity of Lady Musgrave Road and Fairway Avenue, sending thick plumes of black smoke billowing into the sky and bringing traffic in the area to a near standstill.

Videos circulating on social media showed the bus engulfed in flames as drivers slowed and onlookers gathered to watch the dramatic scene unfold.

The STAR understands that passengers were able to exit the vehicle before the fire spread. No injuries have been reported.

Firefighters later responded to the location and worked to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
