Woman charged after firing shots at Rihanna's home while singer was inside
Rihanna was inside her Los Angeles home when a woman allegedly pulled up outside the property and fired several gunshots, sending police rushing to the scene and leading to the suspect's arrest.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Ivana Lisette Ortiz, who is now in custody facing attempted murder charges.
According to law enforcement sources, Ortiz allegedly fired multiple rounds from a vehicle toward the singer's Los Angeles area residence on Sunday. Rihanna was reportedly inside the house at the time but was not physically harmed.
Police responded quickly to the incident and were able to apprehend the suspect without further incident. Ortiz was subsequently booked on the attempted murder charge, with bail set at 10.2 million dollars.
Investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind the shocking attack.
It is unclear whether Rihanna's partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, or their children RZA, Riot and Rocki were at the home when the shots were fired.
The Barbadian born superstar shares the sprawling colonial style mansion with A$AP Rocky. The luxury property, reportedly worth about 13.8 million dollars, sits in a secluded area of Los Angeles and was purchased by the singer in 2021.
Built in the 1930s, the residence has since been extensively renovated and expanded to nearly 22,000 square feet.
Despite the terrifying incident, authorities confirmed that Rihanna was safe as the investigation continues.
